April 1, 2012:
Hello everyone! How is everyone’s Spring so far? Mine has been fun! I performed at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia On March 15, 2012. Sadly, one week later I was admitted into Children’s Hospital as a patient for appendicitis! I had to have surgery. The doctors safely removed my appendix, and I am no longer in pain!
When I first started to have pain, I thought maybe it was food poisoning from the cafeteria food at my school, but none of my other friends seemed sick. When I got home from school, I told my dad and he gave me something for an upset stomach. Unfortunately, it was more than that. When my mom came home, she was concerned, but we ate dinner and watched American Idol. After that, my stomach still hurt so we called the doctor. I was sent to the emergency room. They did a lot of painful tests, confirmed appendicitis and performed surgery. Now I am okay! No vocal chords were affected.
That definitely was NOT my highlight of my seventh grade year, but I am really much better. I hope everyone has a great spring break or vacation, and Happy Easter! Happy April Fool’s Day, too -Kirsten
